Project Manager - Helene Recovery

Position - Full Time with Benefits
Starting Salary - $60,000 - $70,000

Land of Sky Regional Council is currently seeking experienced, self-motivated, and detail-oriented candidates for the position of Project Manager. These positions have a disaster recovery focus, particularly on project management and grant writing/development for recovery funding such as CDBG-Disaster Recovery, USDA, EDA, and NC Department of Environmental Quality. These positions are to assist highly impacted communities in WNC connect to resources for long-term recovery. The positions are funded through a Cooperative Agreement with USDA’s Rural Development Division.

Positions could be structured as full-time or part-time to suit needs and individuals. Individuals with local government experience, including those retired from NC local or state government, or federal government are encouraged to apply. 

The position requires coordination across multiple jurisdictions; independent judgment and initiative in the performance of duties; and knowledge of grant writing, project development, and familiarity with federal and/or state programs is preferred. The project managers will work in coordination with local, state, and federal government; councils of government; and other partners to ensure collaboration and meets community needs. The project manager must also be able to adhere to specific grant program requirements. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in accounting, public administration, planning, business management, project management or related field and minimum of two years’ experience, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in lieu of a degree. 
  • Public sector experience preferred but not required. 
  • Ability to communicate with general public and professional staff in oral/written forms. 
  • Grant and technical writing proficiency. 
  • Requires knowledge in project management, budget management, and supporting software, including the Microsoft suite of software.

Workforce Finance Specialist

Land of Sky Regional Council is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Workforce Finance Specialist. The position performs responsible paraprofessional accounting functions for the finance operations in the Workforce Department. An employee in this class is responsible for performing accounts payable, data entry for general ledger, generating a variety of financial reports, and performing related fiscal duties. Work involves applying established accounting procedures, principles of bookkeeping, and basic fund accounting to the review and processing of accounting documents.

INspire Peer Support Specialist - Cherokee Indian Hospital

Position – Full Time with Benefits 
Starting Salary - $41,808

Note: Funding for this position is through September 2024 with the possibility of it being extended.  

Land of Sky Regional Council is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Cherokee Indian Hospital Peer Support Specialist. Under general direction and supervision of the Peer Support Services Director, the Peer Support Specialist will guide participants across multi-sector services through increased understanding and knowledge of the available resources provided as part of Cherokee Indian Hospital Recovery to Career with a focus on Jackson, Swain, and Graham county areas in Western North Carolina. The Cherokee Indian Hospital Recovery to Career project is a partnership between NCDHHS, Land of Sky Regional Council and The Cherokee Indian Hospital. This project will assist individuals with substance use disorders to connect with employment, education and training while maintaining sobriety. Performs other duties as required.
