Professional Experience

Terry Albrecht has over 20 years experience in environmental and industrial consulting, management, and regulatory experience. Mr. Albrecht’s work includes energy management, strategic energy planning, hazardous waste management, air quality, wastewater, storm water, water efficiency, solid waste, high-performance buildings, pollution prevention assessments, and ISO 14001. Terry has conducted international pollution prevention training courses in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Argentine, and Chile. Terry has also designed and constructed municipal water supply systems in Ecuador, S. A., and has worked as a manufacturing engineer in the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

Mr. Albrecht is the Resource Efficiency Section Chief the NC Division of Environmental Assistance and Customer Service. Terry directs Waste Reduction Partners, a technical consulting group of the Land-of-Sky Regional Council which works in partnership with NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Mr. Albrecht is responsible for overseeing the work of two WRP offices and a statewide team of 65 volunteer and staff engineers and scientists who provides environmental sustainability and utility cost-saving strategies to businesses and public institutions throughout North Carolina. WRP has provided over 214,116 hours of technical assistance, helping businesses and municipal clients save over $60.3 million in utility costs– while improving their environmental performance. Mr. Albrecht also oversees the state’s Utility Saving Initiative which helps state agencies, universities and local governments units reduce utility costs and invest in facility upgrades. The USI program is helping state facilities achieve a 30 percent energy use reduction goal and has helped the state avoid $665 in utility expenditures since 2003.
