Active Aging Week
Website - www.activeagingweekwnc.org

Active aging means living life as fully as possible.  How well we age has more to do with how well we function, and a lot less to do with the years.  And we all function better when we take a walk, visit friends and family, work crosswords or work for money, and sing and dance.  Active Aging Week is an international movement developed by the International Council for Active Aging (ICAA) and is celebrated each year during the last week of September.  Experience a variety of FREE activities that benefit your health and well-being.  Local experts and providers will be offering options listed below.

  • • Health Fairs
  • • Physical Activity Classes
  • • Creative Opportunities
  • • Health Lectures
  • • Balance Screening and Referral

2014 Theme: Let the Adventure Begin
September 21 - 27, 2014

This year's theme - Let the Adventure Begin - encourages organizers and participants to explore life's many possibilities.

Whether it's tai chi, dancing, brain games, a mountain hike or picking up a new hobby, Active Aging Week® activities should be fun, social and stimulating. They should also be free or low cost, educational, and presented in a safe, fun and friendly atmosphere.
