How Your Energy Efficiency Affects Air Quality

Conserving 1,000 kWh will :

  • Reduce 1.1 ton CO2 (greenhouse gas)

  • Reduce 5.31 lbs of nitrous oxides, NOx  (precursor to ozone)

  • Reduce 9.07 lbs of sulfur oxides, SOx (acid rain and visibility pollutant)

Your Car:

A typical passenger car uses 4,500 kWh/year. An acre of forest removes the equivalent of 3,310 kWh/year worth of carbon dioxide - therefore, over an acre of forest is needed to remove the carbon dioxide produced by one passenger car.
