The Land-of-Sky
Regional Council Volunteer Services Department is an
indispensable asset to the region by involving, empowering &
enriching the lives of volunteers and those they serve
within the community.
Fast
Facts:
►
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program saved the
region over $1,274,500 with 652 volunteers giving over
67,970 hours to local government and non-profit
agencies.
►
The Senior Companion Program saved the region over
$1,117,000 with 75 volunteers serving over 59,400 hours
to assist homebound seniors with
transportation, companionship and light household
duties, providing respite to family caregivers,
assisting at adult day care centers and working with
clients and theirs families who are in hospice care.
►
The Foster Grandparent Program saved the region over
$1,349,300 with 96 volunteers serving over 76,570 hours
assisting special needs or at-risk children to achieve
their short- and long-term goals.
