How do Senior Companion Volunteers Benefit?
You receive approximately $200 a month tax free.
This money does not affect your social security,
subsidized housing, Medicare, Medicaid, or food
stamps. Plus, you receive paid days off and
holidays. Each Senior Companion receives
transportation reimbursement and supplemental
insurance.
What do Senior Companions do?
Senior Companion volunteers perform light
housekeeping chores, laundry, prepare small meals,
do dishes, and most importantly offer friendship and
companionship to the elderly clients with whom they
volunteer.
When would I work?
Schedules vary and depend on where you are
volunteering and the times you prefer.
Do I have to have to have a degree or special
training?
No! No formal education is required. We provide
all volunteers entering the program with 40 hours of
training, 20 hours pre-service and 20 hours of
station training.
Do Senior Companions provide personal care such as
toileting and bathing?
No, you will never be expected to provide
personal care.
