Technical Assistance

• Free Technical Assistance
  Member governments may call Land-of-Sky Regional Council for free technical assistance on small requests for information or research and for larger requests that involve multiple jurisdictions. 

• Contract Services
  Land-of-Sky staff are available on a contract basis for larger projects such as land use plans, ordinance revisions, community visioning or for consultation over a period of time on planning or regulatory issues (e.g. growth management, sustainable development, transportation alternatives).

• Planning and Zoning Library
  Land-of-Sky Regional Council has a collection of land use and transportation plans and zoning and subdivision ordinances from jurisdictions in Region B and other places in NC.   Materials may be viewed in our office.

Community Transportation Services Planning

Transportation for the elderly, handicapped, and for others who need transportation is provided by each county (click here for specific contact information). Land-of-Sky coordinates periodic meetings of transportation providers to look for ways to work together and to share information.

Regional Planners Meetings

Land-of-Sky plans and coordinates quarterly meetings of area land use, transportation and environmental planners to share information and discuss regional issues. Regional Planning News

Land-of-Sky Regional Council gathers information about planning-related projects and issues from planners in Region B and reports the news back to area planners and to the NC Chapter of the American Planning Association for publication in its newsletter.
