Strive Not to Drive

5th Annual

FILM FESTIVAL & VIDEO CONTEST

Strive Not to Drive is an annual event that encourages people to avoid driving their car for one or more days (or at least for part of a day) to experience the benefits and opportunities of walking, bicycling, riding the bus, car-pooling, roller-blading, telecommuting, etc. Organizers hope this will encourage them to use these forms of transportation more of the time.

The 2007 event includes a film festival and video contest. We invite you to create a video that features one or more of the issues we are trying to raise awareness of with the Strive Not to Drive campaign (e.g. trying transit, carpooling, biking or walking; air quality benefits of using these alternatives; health benefits of walking and biking; financial benefits of using the alternatives). The format of the video is not restricted – it can be a documentary, story, advertisement, cartoon, etc.

Entries will be accepted from individuals or groups of: (1) middle school students; (2) high school students; (3) college students; or (4) others. Entries will be judged against other entries of the same category.

Video entries will be premiered in a film festival at UNCA on Friday evening, April 20, 2007. Prizes will be awarded for winners in each category.
